Workers also need training in hazard recognition, including how to identify unstable soil, water accumulation, and hidden utilities. Following safety rules not only protects people but also prevents costly delays and legal problems.
Environmental responsibility is another important part of excavation work. Digging can disturb ecosystems, create dust, and increase erosion if not managed properly. Projects may need erosion control measures, sediment barriers, and plans for handling excavated soil. In sensitive areas, excavation may be limited or carefully monitored to reduce damage to wildlife and vegetation. Responsible excavation balances the need to develop land with the need to protect the environment.
